Ben has been being very mysterious this week.  Well, what I've seen of him anyway, since I've got this week off work and he seems to have the world's supply of project meetings.  Only I'm not quite convinced that all of the invisibleness is due to work, because it's my birthday tomorrow and he has the ineffably smug air of someone about to pull a huge surprise out of the proverbial hat.

I hope I'm right and not just projecting my own hopes on a normal situation because I could really do with having a nice surprise on my birthday for once!

Mind you, I'm thoroughly enjoying my week off.  Now my bruises have all gone and my arm doesn't ache constantly I've been far happier going out for walks in the park and sitting, sipping coffee in various eateries and people watching.  Plus I've been reading Sherlock fan fiction in huge juicy glomps and had a Sherlock Series 1 marathon last night that has prompted a Johnlock fic idea that I've spent the last hour dictating the plot for.  Still not sure if it will work overall but I'm looking forward to getting the details recorded.
Oh and I've got a hospital appointment later today to determine it I can have the cast off next week or the week after, so I might just be  able to get back to typing with both hands a little earlier than I previously thought.

I also have a plea to make.  Would anyone consider being a beta for me. [livejournal.com profile] kizzia has done a lot for me in the past but she's so busy with exams at the moment that I can't ask her and Ben does his best but does find the subject material a little overwhelming (to put it mildly - he said he was unshockable before I handed him A Pendragon Never Begs and he went a very strange shade of red). I have to admit I'm a little erratic in my writing so it won't be on a regular basis (I don't share until I'm certain I want things out there) but it would be lovely to have someone else who would cast fresh eyes over my attempts.
I'm also quite happy to beta in return :)

Oh and as I haven't done this for a while, pictures of my two favourite men:

for my Merlin: Complete Series 4 DVD has come! I know, I know, it came out in January - I'm so far behind the times you could use me as a history project.  But I didn't have any money then but I got my bonus on Monday and Amazon did their thing and here we are, together at last.  The perfect couple! *hugs DVD to chest and grins while everyone else backs away nervously*
So this evening I will mostly be glued to the TV, reliving the whole wonderful season - well some of it anyway, I will have to sleep at some point.
But now I must fangirl as hard as I can ... Laters ;)

Well, not all Mondays. The Mondays when I'm not at work and can sleep in till 8am and watch movies and cuddle the cats are lovely.

This Monday, however, was not one of those. It was so far from being one of those that it may as well have been on a different planet.

The fire alarm started beeping randomly at 2 am this morning. Not going off properly, you understand, just beeping, occasionally, every time I'd almost dropped off to sleep.

So I gave in and got out of bed, tripped over Ceefer - who thinks I live to provide a pair of legs for him to rub up against - and tried to find the steps so I could get up to alarm to see what was wrong. One seriously bruised arm, two broken nails and a new battery later and I'd succeeded in stopping it.

Except it was now 3.30 am so I only had another hour before I needed to get up.

On the plus side, the ironing I didn't get round to at the weekend was done before I left for work.

Ah work, how joyfully I greeted you. Shame you didn't return the favour. No, you presented me with a server failure, two idiots who couldn't find their arses with both hands and a broken coffee machine.

I really didn't think it could get any worse.

Then the ex rang. Did I happen to have a couple of quid to spare?

On the basis that less is more and that discretion is the better part of valour I simply hung up and then blocked his number. Besides, there were impressionable people around me and they didn't deserve to hear the vicious, swearword laden tirade that would have spilled from my mouth had I opened it.

And to top it all I've spent the past two hours working on the Brolin fic to realise it has taken on a life of its own. It's in a worse shape than it was yesterday. Now I've got a random newspaper article about Colin, a scene with them ripping each other's tuxes off and a scene that made me cry writing it, none of which fit into the original plot at all.

Why? For the love of all things Merthur, why? I think someone, somewhere, is having a good laugh at me. Definitely at, not with. I mean, look at my face, do I look like I'm laughing?

But then I look at the beautiful gif I found on Tumblr (created by Shut up Merlin - I hope she doesn't mind me using it) and suddenly I'm smiling just a little.

... as the Brolin fic is not read to go up yet, despite the fact it now has the most brilliant
gif to go with it:

This was made for me by the fabulous Merlingifrequests on Tumblr - all hail their amazingness!

The story itself is now in bits. Mainly because when I re-read the whole thing it didn't ring true in my head plus Colin's acting like an idiot.

So it won't get posted today like I hoped.

Which makes me sad.

On a plus note ... um, actually I can't think of one.

So I'm off to fight with it some more until Colin submits to my will and I get the ending I want.

So I've started this account to share my love of Mr James a.k.a. Arthur Pendragon with all you lovely livejournallers. I shall be posting fan fiction and rp fics, mostly centred around Merthur and Brolin, although I ship Mergana and Arwen as well (don't ask, I have a very strange mind).
I do have a couple of bits on FanFiction.net but I'll be moving them over here in the near future. Check out my Tumblr for my favourite images of the delicious duo or follow me on Twitter if you fancy it :)

This is currently my favourite photo of Bradley:

His smile just melts my heart!
