Why didn't the 'preview' quote I used as a teaser for my Brolin fan fiction actually appear in 'A Piece of Cake'?

Short answer is that my Brolin has got out of control :D

I now have a set of six fics half written, all in the same arc, that start with 'A Piece of Cake.' They follow our adorable duo from their initial, movie quoted declaration of feelings the day after Bradley's birthday in 2011 all the way through to the day after Colin's appearance at the IFTA's in February this year.

The next one that I will be posting has the working title of "Keeping it under Wraps" and I'll leave you to guess what event it may or may not include! [livejournal.com profile] asya_ana I know you know already, but don't spoil the surprise ;)

I'm not sure how fast it will all go up as my life has gone a little banana's with the new job and all, but I'm enjoying my boys so much I doubt I'll keep you hanging too much.

In other news, Ceefer has decided that my Merlin S4 DVD box set is the perfect thing to chew on. If I wasn't firmly against animal cruelty and didn't love him so much, he'd be toothless by now!

Yes, I did.  Well, I said yes to the new job and that, apparently, entails more madness, meetings and reading of project notes that I thought possible.

And it's brilliant in a deeply exhausting, what have I got myself into, can I really do this kind of a way!

But now it is Sunday and the madness is on pause.  The cats and I are curled on the sofa enjoying a little down time.  Ceefer is snoring the snores of a wannabe lion, Jennyanydots is dreaming of taking over the world one mouse at a time and I am toying with either watching Merlin or LoTR. Merlin is currently winning cos I've just seen a tweet about A Servant of Two Masters and although I only watched it last weekend I just NEED to watch it again.

Except I'd have to get up to get the DVD and I'm too comfy to move.

Ah well, I'll just have to get on with some writing.  Brolin, Brolin, where fore art thou Brolin!

I've had an awesome three days.

Saturday was spent mooching round first the National Gallery and then the British Museum. I don't do things like that enough.  There are so many museums in London that are free (although I did leave donations at both) and there is nothing quite so wonderful in immersing yourself in things of beauty and seeing stories that stretch back further you can really comprehend.  And I got bought a drink by a very nice looking bloke in Covent Garden in the evening!

On Sunday I slept, wrote and watched Merlin, not necessarily in that order.  I have now re-watched the whole of Series 4 and can safely say that 'Servant of two masters' is my favourite episode, period.  [livejournal.com profile] itzcoatl you were so right :)  I have also fixed most of the problems in my Brolin fic, just a section of dialogue right at the beginning to try and make sound good and then I can start posting.  Which is quite exciting and slightly scary all at the same time.

However the real awesomeness happened today:

I got called into the office of my manager's manager.  Spent the short walk trying to figure out what on earth I could have done wrong.  Nothing as it turned out.  My manager is moving to another division and they want me to take his job.  OMG!!!!! I have staff.  I have a budget.  I have several projects that are now my babies!

I am so full of win right now that I don't know what to do with myself.

for my Merlin: Complete Series 4 DVD has come! I know, I know, it came out in January - I'm so far behind the times you could use me as a history project.  But I didn't have any money then but I got my bonus on Monday and Amazon did their thing and here we are, together at last.  The perfect couple! *hugs DVD to chest and grins while everyone else backs away nervously*
So this evening I will mostly be glued to the TV, reliving the whole wonderful season - well some of it anyway, I will have to sleep at some point.
But now I must fangirl as hard as I can ... Laters ;)
bradspyjamas: (La la la I'm not listening)
... stop listening at doors.  Or more accurately, dear ex, stop stalking me on cyber space!

I've absolutely no interest in what you do or do not think about how I spend my time.  Nor do I care that you don't like me referring to you as 'ex' - it's accurate and far more polite than any of the other terms that float across my consciousness when I think of you.

I believe, judging by the garbled message you left, that - and I'm very much paraphrasing rather than quoting here - you're concerned for my mental health and upset at how I've portrayed you on the internet.

I'd like to make the following points in response:

Firstly, one sentence in a journal only a few people read is not a portrayal - it's a walk on part that only you care about. Plus it was the truth so just suck it up and stop whining.

Secondly, how the hell did you find this?  I know the main use to which you put your computer; it starts with a "p", ends in an "n" and utilises live streaming from dodgy websites.  I'm quite flattered you managed to get both hands to the keyboard to type my name into a search engine.  I may even start to think that you miss me.

Thirdly, and most importantly, I truly don't care if I've upset you.  I stopped caring what you thought or felt when I caught you in my bed with that woman.

Just to summarise - in case I used too many long words above - GO AWAY!

Here ends the public announcement!

Well, not all Mondays. The Mondays when I'm not at work and can sleep in till 8am and watch movies and cuddle the cats are lovely.

This Monday, however, was not one of those. It was so far from being one of those that it may as well have been on a different planet.

The fire alarm started beeping randomly at 2 am this morning. Not going off properly, you understand, just beeping, occasionally, every time I'd almost dropped off to sleep.

So I gave in and got out of bed, tripped over Ceefer - who thinks I live to provide a pair of legs for him to rub up against - and tried to find the steps so I could get up to alarm to see what was wrong. One seriously bruised arm, two broken nails and a new battery later and I'd succeeded in stopping it.

Except it was now 3.30 am so I only had another hour before I needed to get up.

On the plus side, the ironing I didn't get round to at the weekend was done before I left for work.

Ah work, how joyfully I greeted you. Shame you didn't return the favour. No, you presented me with a server failure, two idiots who couldn't find their arses with both hands and a broken coffee machine.

I really didn't think it could get any worse.

Then the ex rang. Did I happen to have a couple of quid to spare?

On the basis that less is more and that discretion is the better part of valour I simply hung up and then blocked his number. Besides, there were impressionable people around me and they didn't deserve to hear the vicious, swearword laden tirade that would have spilled from my mouth had I opened it.

And to top it all I've spent the past two hours working on the Brolin fic to realise it has taken on a life of its own. It's in a worse shape than it was yesterday. Now I've got a random newspaper article about Colin, a scene with them ripping each other's tuxes off and a scene that made me cry writing it, none of which fit into the original plot at all.

Why? For the love of all things Merthur, why? I think someone, somewhere, is having a good laugh at me. Definitely at, not with. I mean, look at my face, do I look like I'm laughing?

But then I look at the beautiful gif I found on Tumblr (created by Shut up Merlin - I hope she doesn't mind me using it) and suddenly I'm smiling just a little.

Well, thanks to my over enthusiastic cat who decided that lie-ins are for wimps it is 7.45 am on a Saturday morning and I have been awake for over an hour already. So I suppose that I should be doing something useful instead of drinking tea and trawling t'internet for pictures of Mr James that I haven't already swooned over yet ;)
In other news I am half way through writing a Brolin fic that I started on Valentine's day - nothing major just a one-shot piece of angsty fluff with practically no snogging, never mind any sex. Which, given my inability to write a satisfactory second chapter to Regent's Revenge or finish any of the 13 other PWP WIPS I haven't shared with the world, is probably a good thing.
Now all I need to do is decide on a name for Colin's cad-ish Irish ex and then iron out all the wrinkles and I'll have something to share. And that, I'm sure you'll agree, is a far better way to get over a break up than moping around eating chocolate ice cream straight from the tub!
Oh yes, almost forgot. A glorious pic of Bradley to brighten the morning:

I could drown in those eyes!
