Summary: In which there are costumes!

This can all be blamed on Mark Gatiss’s twitter profile picture and, having read Red Sky at Morning , me having many thoughts about what Sherlock might have worn in such a universe.

This is a present for [livejournal.com profile] impulsereader – author of Red Sky and many other wonderful Sherlock fics. Happy Birthday my dear. I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow.

Fancy that!

Sherlock frowns, freezing in the doorway. John – clad in an extremely well cut black tuxedo – is laying out an assortment of clothes on their bed.

‘What are they for?’

‘You.’

‘I said I wasn’t going.’

‘And I say you are.’ John’s tone is army sharp, commanding. ‘Get ready. You’ve got five minutes.’

Four minutes later Sherlock is outfitted and following John into a cab, a small smile crinkling the kohl round his eyes.

The smile turns to a smirk when, having arrived at the hotel and been ushered into a room heaving with costumed people, he finds himself face to face with his brother, wearing a large, curly wig.

‘Happy Birthday, Sherlock.’

‘Indeed, Mycroft … or should I call you Humpty?’

Mycroft sighs. ‘Sire will do … Pugwash, since I’m dressed as Charles the First. Now where is your better half? I must thank him for ensuring all Mummy’s meticulous planning hasn’t been wasted.’

Sherlock looks around to see John leaning against the wall, watching him with an intensity that sends heat through his entire body. Mycroft forgotten he whirls away in a flurry of coattails, weaving deftly through the other guests until;

‘Jack Sparrow,’ John’s voice thrums with desire.

Captain Jack Sparrow, Mr Bond,’ he retorts silkily. ‘See something you fancy?’

‘Definitely,’ John pulls him close, ‘Captain. You make a beautiful buccaneer.’

***********

Mark is playing Charles the First in “55 days” at the Hampstead Theatre in London – hence this costume:

Mark Gatiss as Charles I

I feel obliged to say that the idea of Benedict wearing kohl eyeliner and dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow is … well, let’s just say that appealing doesn’t even begin to cover it. And Martin as Bond … gah, I’m broken!

Squee! OK - did I mention to you that Pirate!Sherlock was born of my reading [livejournal.com profile] djarum99's PotC fic or are you just extraordinarily clever?

This is amazing and fantastic and I cannot thank you enough for being inspired by my Pirate!Sherlock!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Oh, and John as Bond is fantabulous and I love that you took Mark's cue because transposing it to Mycroft is hilarious!

Oh dear ... as I keep saying, one of my ancestors was Oliver Cromwell and we all know what occured between him and King Charles ...

You are NOT allowed to kill Mycroft. I forbid it ;)
Feel free, however, to extend some Cromwellian curtesy to Anderson.

Hold on, I actually LIKE Anderson. I think he, like many characters in dramas, has been created to be maligned and I don't like the way Sherlock is a school yard bully towards him.

I would howver be quite happy to make a personal apology to Mycroft, or even Mr Gatiss. We don't have much control over our ancestors though do we ;-P

Anderson gives as good as he gets. Plus he's unfaithful, so we shall agree to differ I think :)

Ah yes, but do we actually know what Mrs Anderson is up to? (playing the Devil's advocate here!)

*grins - I like debates*
As far as I am concerned it doesn't matter what she's up to. He is being unfaithful and, on the assumption that she hasn't said it's ok (given how he reacted to Sherlock pointing his actions out) that makes him abhorant to me. I don't care if she is doing the same thing to him, or he thinks she is, that would just make me dislike her as well, not think their actions were acceptable.
Yeah, I do feel quite strongly about people being unfaithful. I've had it happen to me and I've seen just how much damage it can do to other people. It makes me feel sick.

I understand what you are saying, and I am not going to say anymore otherwise I might get myself into hot water ;-P

You won't - I don't get offended easily :)
Plus I can see that Anderson, apart from the unfaithfulness, is probably a perfectly nice person. After all it can't be easy having some posh voiced civilian rampaging around your crime scenes and telling you you're an idiot (or any other variation on that theme) in front of your colleagues. My reaction to him is purely personal and therefore, if you're being Sherlockian about it, flawed because it is an emotional reaction rather than a considered one.

Did you have a fab day?

I love it! And yes, I did have a nice day, thanks. A natural history museum, an art museum, a lemon, lots of Cabin Pressure running around in my head, and Canadian beer!

I got distracted by Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock in eyeliner a la Capt'n Jack Sparrow.

I then got distracted by Mark Gatiss as Charles the 1st.

And then got really, REALLY distracted by the thought of the mini series Charles II; the power the passion which has Martin Freeman (Lord Shaftsbury) and Rupert Graves (the Duke of Buckingham) and their Lady Lovely Locks wigs which you can watch here:

*snirks*
*giggles*
*SNORTS*
I'm sure it's a wonderful mini series but I started to giggle while watching it and I just can't get over it.

It is giggle-worthy, especially since I'm finding it hard to tell everyone apart because they all have the exact same hairstyle - even the little Prince in exile. I'm going to have to watch this now, lots of good people in it. Thanks for the giggling which drew my attention to it!

YOU WATCHED IT! YOU CAN'T UN-WATCH IT!

Both Martin Freeman and Rupert Graves in those ridiculous wigs just cracks me up. EVERY TIME.

Well, considering she's known the other two since before birth, it is completely understandable. And John as 007 is just yummy!
